A: Modified PTFE is stiffer (higher Modulus), stronger (higher strength), tougher (higher ability to absorb energy up until fracture), more ductile (higher elongation at break) than PTFE, and also, more resistant to deformation under load.

Q: What is the temperature range of modified PTFE?

A: Wide temperature range; -200°C to +260°C.

Q: What happens to PTFE when heated?

A: Safety. While PTFE is stable at lower temperatures, it begins to deteriorate at temperatures of about 260 °C (500 °F), it decomposes above 350 °C (662 °F), and pyrolysis occurs at temperatures above 400 °C (752 °F).

Q: What chemical can dissolve PTFE?

A: Perfluorokerosenes. As reported by them, PTFE has been dissolved only in perfluorokerosenes and perfluorinated oils, in other words, perfluorinated higher molecular weight alkanes. They report that PTFE will not dissolve in perfluorodecalin, octafluoronaphthalene or decafluorobenzophenone.
