Analysis Of The Key Points Of PFA Pipe And Welding Rod Installation Technology
Jul 11, 2025
In the fields of chemical, semiconductor and food processing, PFA pipe has become an ideal choice for fluid conveying systems due to its excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and low friction coefficient. As the key material for connecting pipes, the installation quality of PFA welding rods directly affects the sealing and service life of the system. This article will introduce the installation process and precautions of PFA pipes and welding rods in detail.
1. Preparation before installation
Before installing PFA pipes, ensure that the specifications of pipes and welding rods match, and check whether the materials are intact. PFA pipes should be stored in a dry environment, avoid direct sunlight and high temperature to prevent material performance degradation. At the same time, the inner and outer surfaces of the pipes need to be cleaned to ensure that there is no grease, dust or other contaminants to avoid affecting the welding quality.
2. Cutting and pretreatment
Use special cutting tools (such as ceramic knives or rotary cutters) to cut PFA pipes to the required length, and the cut should be smooth and burr-free. After cutting, the edge of the pipe mouth can be gently polished with fine sandpaper to remove possible minor defects and ensure a smooth welding surface.
3. Key points of welding process
PFA pipes are usually welded by hot melt welding or compression welding, among which hot melt welding is more common. When welding, a PFA welding rod that matches the pipe should be used, and the diameter of the welding rod should be adapted to the inner diameter of the pipe. The welding temperature should be strictly controlled within the recommended range (usually 350℃-400℃). Too high a temperature may cause material degradation, while too low a temperature will affect the welding strength.
During the welding process, the pipe and the welding rod should be heated to a molten state at the same time, and then quickly docked and maintained at a certain pressure until they cool and solidify. To ensure the quality of welding, it is recommended to use professional PFA welding equipment and be operated by experienced technicians.
4. Inspection and testing after installation
After welding, check whether the weld is flat, free of bubbles or cracks. If necessary, a pressure test can be performed to ensure that there is no leakage at the connection. For critical application scenarios, it is recommended to use high-precision detection methods such as helium leak detection to ensure the reliability of the system.
The installation of PFA pipes and welding rods needs to strictly follow the process specifications. From material preparation to welding completion, every step is critical. Mastering the correct installation technology can not only improve system performance, but also extend the service life of equipment and provide stable protection for industrial production.
