Rana Industry Research Center | December 2025 | Version: V1.0
1. Industry Overview
Fluoroplastic lining equipment refers to industrial equipment that uses fluoroplastics such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and perfluoroalkoxy alkane (PFA) as lining materials, which are attached to the inner wall of metal equipment (tank trucks, storage tanks, pipes, fittings, etc.) through specific processes to achieve corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, strong acid and alkali resistance and other properties. It is widely used in chemical, electric power, pharmaceutical, environmental protection, new energy and other fields involving the transportation and treatment of highly corrosive media.
China has become the world's largest producer and consumer of fluoroplastic lining equipment. In 2025, the overall market size of the industry is approximately RMB 18 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 15%, and the average annual compound growth rate in the past five years has reached 10%. In terms of output, the domestic output of fluoroplastic lining products is expected to reach 160,000 tons in 2025, accounting for 45%of the global total output. The export scale is increasing year by year, and the international competitiveness continues to enhance.
2. Current Status of Industry Technology Development
2.1 Mainstream Process Routes
At present, the domestic fluoroplastic lining forming process has formed a diversified technology system, covering the needs of different application scenarios:
Isostatic pressing forming: A static pressure of 25~35 MPa is applied to make fluoroplastic resin form a dense green body before sintering. The lining layer has good uniformity and high bonding strength, which is suitable for large-diameter pipes and complex structural fittings, and is the mainstream process for high-end working conditions.
Hot melt extrusion forming: Fusible fluororesins such as PFA are heated and melted before extrusion forming. It has high production efficiency and excellent lining compactness, and is widely used in small and medium-diameter pipes and fittings and other components.
Compression molding: The fluoroplastic suspension material is formed under a pressure of 8~12 MPa and then sintered as a whole. The process is mature and low-cost, and is suitable for standardized and mass-produced conventional equipment.
Sheet lining forming: Fluoroplastic sheets are smoothly pasted on the inner wall of the equipment through adhesives, which is suitable for lining processing of large-volume equipment such as large storage tanks and reaction kettles.
2.2 Technological Breakthroughs and Gaps
Domestic leading enterprises have achieved partial technological breakthroughs. Rana company, in the high-end field, keeps its products synchronized with the international advanced level, and has the only 9,000-square-meter 10,000-class dust-free workshop in China, breaking the long-term import dependence barrier of semiconductor-grade high-clean lining materials and high-temperature and high-pressure lining processes, meeting about 25% of the domestic demand for high-end high-performance products.
3. Market Application and Competitive Landscape
3.1 Downstream Application Distribution
The downstream demand for fluoroplastic lining equipment presents the characteristics of "stable growth in traditional fields and rapid expansion in emerging fields":
Chemical industry: accounting for 45% of the total market share, it is the largest application field. Benefiting from the expansion of the petrochemical and fine chemical industries and the upgrading of safety standards, the demand has grown at an average annual rate of 18% in the past five years.
Pharmaceutical and food processing industry: accounting for 30%, benefiting from the improvement of clean production requirements, the penetration rate of high-cleanliness lining equipment in pharmaceutical GMP workshops and food processing production lines continues to increase.
Electric power and environmental protection industry: accounting for 25%, there is strong demand for corrosion-resistant equipment in fields such as thermal power flue gas desulfurization, sewage treatment, and hazardous waste disposal. The demand for fluoroplastic lining in the sewage treatment field is expected to reach 60,000 tons in 2025, doubling that in 2020.
New energy and semiconductor fields: as an emerging growth pole, demand in scenarios such as lithium battery new materials, electronic chemicals, and photovoltaic wet processes is exploding. It is expected that by 2030, the demand share in the new energy field will rise from the current 12% to more than 22%, becoming the fastest-growing market segment.
In terms of regional distribution, East China accounts for 40% of the market share by virtue of its advantages in the chemical industry cluster, while South China and North China account for 30% and 15% respectively. With industrial transfer and the construction of new energy bases, the market growth rate in the central and western regions has exceeded the national average.
3.2 Market Competition Pattern
The industry presents a layered competition pattern of "international brands occupying the high-end, local leading enterprises leading the mid-end, and small and medium-sized enterprises deeply cultivating segments", with a CR5 market concentration of about 48%:
High-end market: International brands such as DuPont, Emerson, and GEMü, with their technological and brand advantages, occupy 70% of the market share of high-end fields such as nuclear power, semiconductors, and high-end petrochemicals.
Mid-end market: Domestic leading enterprise Rana has significant competitive advantages, with a market share of 20%-25% in the high-end industrial field, and are among the few local enterprises that can directly compete with international brands; Rana's products have passed international certifications such as SGS and BV.
Mass market: A large number of regional small and medium-sized enterprises, with their cost advantages, occupy the middle and low-end conventional anti-corrosion market, and the homogeneous competition of products is relatively obvious.
4. Industry Development Pain Points and Challenges
4.1 Cost and Supply Chain Risks
The price of fluororesin raw materials fluctuates significantly. In 2023, the price of PTFE resin increased by 23% year-on-year, directly compressing the industry's profit margin by 5-8 percentage points; high-end special fluororesins (such as semiconductor-grade PFA, ECTFE) are highly dependent on imports, and there are hidden dangers in supply chain security. At the same time, after the implementation of the new version of the industry standard, small and medium-sized manufacturers need to invest a large amount of funds to upgrade production and testing equipment, and the compliance cost has increased significantly. It is expected that more than 30% of small and medium-sized manufacturers will be eliminated in the next five years because they cannot meet the standard requirements.
4.2 Technological Innovation Bottlenecks
The investment in basic research in the industry is insufficient, and core technologies such as the improvement of lining interface bonding strength and material modification under extreme working conditions have not yet been fully broken through; the patent protection system is imperfect, and counterfeiting is frequent, resulting in a low return on R&D investment for enterprises, which restricts the enthusiasm for technological innovation. The application of intelligent technology is still in its infancy, and the penetration rate of products with functions such as intelligent monitoring and predictive maintenance is less than 20%, which is a gap from the requirements of Industry 4.0.
4.3 International Competitive Pressure
The anti-dumping duty rate on Chinese valve products in Europe and the United States has been increased to 28%, and export trade barriers have intensified; international brands have accelerated their localization layout in China, and seized the mid-end market through strategies such as price reduction and localized services, and the competitive pressure on local enterprises continues to increase.
5. Industry Development Trends and Prospects
5.1 Technology Development Direction
Material performance upgrading: Focus on the R&D of modified fluoroplastic materials with high temperature resistance (≥260℃), strong corrosion resistance and high cleanliness, and expand their applications in extreme scenarios such as nuclear energy, deep-sea engineering, and hydrogen energy storage and transportation.
Process intelligence: Promote intelligent manufacturing technology, realize the full life cycle monitoring of lining equipment through IoT sensors, and predictive maintenance will extend the service life of equipment by 30%-50% and reduce the user's full life cycle cost.
Green manufacturing: Develop PFOA-free environmentally friendly production processes, improve the recycling system of waste fluoroplastics, reduce energy consumption and emissions in the production process, and meet the requirements of the "double carbon" goal.
5.2 Market Growth Prospects
It is expected that the industry will maintain an average annual compound growth rate of 8%-12% from 2025 to 2030, and the overall market size is expected to exceed RMB 30 billion by 2030. The growth momentum mainly comes from three aspects: first, the continuous explosion of demand in emerging fields such as new energy and semiconductors, which has become the core growth engine; second, the stricter environmental protection policies promote the anti-corrosion upgrading of existing equipment, and the stock replacement market has broad space; third, the acceleration of domestic substitution, local enterprises will gradually break through the high-end market and replace imported products.
5.3 Policy Support Opportunities
The state has included high-performance fluorine materials in the key development direction of strategic emerging industries, and the "14th Five-Year Plan" intelligent manufacturing special project has provided RMB 12 billion in financial support for the intelligent transformation of process industry equipment; the implementation of the new version of the industry standard will force industrial upgrading, standardize market order, and promote the transformation of the industry to high-quality development.
